Fitness was a large component of Stefan's life even starting at a young age. He started playing hockey at the age of 4 years old, while living a very healthy and active lifestyle, which has continued for many years. The final years of high school was where his interests lead him towards weight training. The realization that with being a top athlete in any sport, you must better yourself mentally and especially physically. Having that edge was key. His passion for health and fitness took him down the path of eventually graduating with a BA in Kinesiology and Applied Health at the University of Winnipeg in 2010. Upon graduation, he also received his Certified Personal Trainer Certificate through the highly accredited Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology.

With over 10 years experience, it wasn't until his first novice bodybuilding show attended in 2010, which had opened his eyes into competing. He did his first show in 2010, which was a life changing experience. Going back the following year, he placed 1st in his second show in 2011 in the MABBA light heavyweight division. This past year in 2013, he placed top 3 for his class, which qualified him for nationals.
